The YMCA has been busy in local communities across Australia since 1851 providing children's services, recreation, camping, youth services and community initiatives, events, training and accommodation. The emphasis was on youth work, youth clubs, physical development, leadership training, education and welfare. The program also provides opportunities for youths from all backgrounds and ages to participate in community services, sport and events enabling them to build skills and work together for the betterment of themselves and the Katherine Community. They will be involved in the planning and implementation of educational program which provides a safe and stimulating environment for all children, at all times. Our core focus Occupied with young people, particularly indigenous young people. We concern about young people and helping them lead active and fulfilled roles within our community. We believe in the benefits of physical activity, empowering young people and building community connections. Over 160 staff and volunteers labor at multiple locations across the Territory in the areas of health and fitness, swimming, childcare, pastime parks, accommodation, community programs and youth services, delivering accessible programs so that more people have the opportunity to get energetic and involved. Our Youth spaces in Palmerston and Katherine provide sound and structured environments for young people to participate in various activities, learn new skills and socialism with their friends and peers. Here at the Exceptional Education center (SEC), located at Palmerston Senior College, we have children from the ages of five years old to fourteen years of age. Katherine Youth Diversion program offers young people involved, or at risk of becoming involved, with the youth justice system.
